Lightweight concrete
Lightweight concrete has a dry density between 800 and 2000 kg/m³. The technical lower density limit for lightweight concrete is currently around 350 kg /m³.
The low weight of lightweight concrete is due to aggregates with high porosity and low density. In addition to the aggregates, air pores are additionally involved in the concrete. These air pores give the concrete lightweight thermal insulation properties and lower thermal conductivity.
The most commonly used admixtures in lightweight concrete production are expanded vermicolite and perlite.
Lightweight concrete is used in the construction of partition walls, waterproofing, thermal insulation and soundproofing, fire protection walls.
